Vivekananda Young Explorer Contest Season 1

Contests serve an important role in pushing kids to succeed and perform. They provide far more benefits than just the award for the winner. Contests allow participants to get valuable experience, benchmark and analyze results, demonstrate abilities, and discover personal aptitude. Students are also encouraged to improve their ideas and talents, as well as to use new tactics.

About Vivekananda Young Explorer Contest Season 1

Vivekananda Young Explorer contest was organized from 17 December to 31 January Nurtured by DAV group of school, Chennai. The contest was based on the subjects English, Maths and Science. It was followed by exciting weekly prizes and awards for the best submission sponsored by D.A.V Chennai and Ramakrishna Mission Science Centre.

Purpose of event

The Contest aims to promote project-based learning – aligned to the curriculum. The aim is also to make it creative and fun and develop life skills.

Summary of event

The contest was organized for students from classes 1 to 9 which was divided into 3 groups i.e 1-3, 4-6 and 6-9 with different topics and activities assigned to the students.

For example, classes 1-3 were given activities under the English subject as one of them was to read the given story or poem aloud with voice modulation or enact drama or create a dance or musical in it. The students were told to submit videos. The response was tremendous as many students enthusiastically submitted videos with few enacting.

For classes 4-6 under the subject Maths, the title was "Volume, Weight and Area". The activity was to create some fun experiments and puzzles to explain and differentiate between volume, weight and area. They were told to submit craftwork, poems, stories, skits, dance, games, puzzles, riddle, etc. in video, images or PDF format.

For class 7-9 under the subject Science, the theme was "Demonstrate air pressure with fun experiments. Show how it can be used in real life." they can submit in the form of craftwork, riddles, games, skits, dance, etc. the response was huge and overwhelming.

The prizes included were 3 phones for each best entry from the 3 groups, weekly prizes for best entry in each age group which included Amazon voucher of 200rs off.

Appreciation certificates were sponsored by DAV Chennai and Ramakrishna Mission Science Centre. Lastly, participation certificates were given to all valid entries.
