Supporting and Motivating Government Teachers

Supporting and Motivating Government Teachers

Pune Zilla Parishad (PZP) oversees rural Pune, which has over 1,800 villages. PZP manages 3,639 schools and over 11 teachers. Programs envisaged by management – are implemented in schools with the support of Taluka heads (#13) and cluster heads (#309). Each cluster oversees 10-15 schools. Each Taluka has 200-500 schools.

Schools are in remote rural areas. Most schools have 2-3 teachers and some up to 10. Teachers often teach multiple grades and multiple subjects. Apart from teaching - significant time is taken by other tasks – e.g. Department of children with special needs, monthly parent meetings, enrolling out-of-school children, book & uniform distribution, mid-day meal, Teacher Training etc.

Vinoba Sikshan Sahayak Program:

Vinoba-Sikshan-Sahayak-Program

The isolation of small schools is a challenge. Teachers function best in communities and teams. Teachers need support and guidance. They need to talk about their work - to be heard and appreciated. They feel the need to be part of a community, recognized, and motivated.

The Vinoba program allows the teachers to share their projects with students, worksheets, activities, and experiences so that they can feel like part of a more extensive community. Teachers can interact with other teachers and learn from each other. Teachers also get supported by feeds from the District Institute for Education and Training (DIET). Teachers will be able to stay in communication with one another online and exchange instructional resources and best practices. In Pune ZP and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), 2,495 schools and 7,129 instructors participate in the programme. According to the education department, 91% of PMC schools have experienced it, while 60% of Pune rural schools have enrolled on the programme.

Awards such as 'Post of Month', 'Star Teacher', '21st-century educator', and 'Master Mentor' – recognize & motivate teachers to share their work and learn from others. These are broad-based and go to teachers at various levels - at school, cluster, Taluka and District levels. Teacher engagement is essential for improving student outcomes and the adoption of IT-led programs.

The Vinoba program has direct benefits for the work of teachers and the Pune ZP management. It also results in other benefits such as:

  • Better incorporation of art, music, and activities in the classroom through the sharing of teaching resources
  • More topic-centred clubs and academic/sports/arts/crafts events
  • Visibility and recognition across schools, clusters and in the district
  • Improved support for children with disabilities

Pune Zilla Parishad launched Acharya Vinoba Bhave Sikshan Sahayak Karyaram – to support, Engage and motivate teachers. The Vinoba app and program – are used by all the teachers in the district government schools. The tickLinks tools and programmes are the foundation of the Vinoba app. The Hon Dy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar introduced the Shaala Sudhar initiative on May 6 in an effort to improve the quality of Pune city's schools. In conjunction with the Shaala Sudhar initiative, the Vinoba app was also released. CEOs Ayush Prasad and Shobha Khandare of the Pune Zilla Parishad. By exchanging instructional resources, it can aid in the greater integration of artistic, musical, and other school activities.

A lot of focus is placed on motivating and engaging teachers to foster universal self-embracement for adoption and transformation. Engagement is increased via tools like gamification, recognition, likes, shares, and prizes. The Vinoba programme aids in establishing alignment and boosts speed and effectiveness. There may be more academic, extracurricular, and topic-focused organizations and activities. Teachers should be seen and acknowledged in all schools, groups, and districts. Improved teacher assistance through weekly planning and activities is one crucial factor that might lead to better support for kids with disabilities.

tickLinks is a platform for teachers – to get support, engage and get recognition. tickLinks facilitates two-way information flow between the administrators and the teachers and creates a network of teachers – who can easily share work, learn and appreciate each other's work. Teachers are recognized for their contributions through monthly, quarterly and yearly programs at various levels. By facilitating two-way communication between administrators and instructors, tickLinks encourages peer review. Additionally, this helps to develop the instructor portfolio. By assisting them and giving them the right tools, such as lesson plans matched to the curriculum and more, for maximum student engagement, we work to implement the NEP, 21st Century Education, to develop teachers who are prepared for the modern classroom.
